In her own words, Dr. Ramona Rolle-Berg, Ph.D. presents the findings of her grounded theory research on Strengthening Devotion: Caregiver self-growth through service. (Free)
Description
In this talk, Dr. Rolle-Berg, Ph.D., presents the result of years of research. She lays out 3 specific guide-posts on a roadmap called Strengthening Devotion. The roadmap was developed for parents struggling to survive the often highly unpredictable nature of a life of service to a child(ren) with Autism. But, says Dr. Rolle-Berg, it’s also for parents generally, because caregiving is an evolution in self-awareness about what it means to love nonjudgmentally with unqualified faith not only in a child(ren) but in one’s own resilience. Acceptance, adaptation, and a reclaiming of relinquished self-focus define Strengthening Devotion. Ultimately, Dr. Rolle-Berg suggests, parents may use the roadmap to corroborate where they have been, how far they have traveled, then chart their way forward proactively to lower stress, improve health outcomes and re-engage with life’s unlimited potential.
